Oomen lives and works in Amsterdam and has two children. He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, The Hague from 1996-2000, and graduated in fine arts. He lived in Berlin, Helsinki, San Francisco, Leipzig and Saint Petersburg for work and artist in residence programmes.
His works are in international public and private collections such as HNY company Shanghai/New York City, the Federal ministry of Health and the Federal ministry of Finance, Germany, The city of Amsterdam, Google Italy, and other companies and private collectors both nationally and internationally.
Oomen is specialized in painting and drawing, but also designs furniture, objects and curates art shows in the cultural hotspot NDSM-Wharf Amsterdam, where he and his colleague Jolanda Lanslots founded Stichting NDSM-FUSE. More recently Oomen got to be the owner of a large garden along two tiny houses in southern Belgium, of which he was caretaker of for 7 years. This very garden will be developed into an Artist in residence domain and a sculpture garden.
Oomen has a broad fascination for (art)history, sociology, geo-politics, the human body, nature, culture and mathematics.
